    Oil,

What about oil viscosity. I have always used 70 wt, however there are a bunch of guys that run light weight oil 20/50 etc.

I understand that people use high weight motor oil to compensate the high cylinder pressures which in return beat up rod and crank bearings. How low weight can you use before the rod bearings get beat up in one pass?

I honestly believe unless you are trying to squeeze every little bit of HP out of a motor you should protect your investment the best you can. I will not run anything less than 70 weight as I would rather not replace bearings more often. Maybe I am being a little too cautious, but I haven't lost a bearing or rod in over 5 years.

"but I haven't lost a bearing or rod in over 5 years"

You'd better knock on wood after that statement, lol. That's like when I was bragging I hadn't broke a blower belt for about 5 years, then it broke on the next run.

Seriously though, I found that 70 wt was a bit too heavy, when I went back to 60W, the bearings looked much better.

He's from Malta. It gets very hot (and, I suspect, humid) there. So, I guess 70wt would be favourite.... And whatever brand he can get ! As no-one sells Brad Penn in the UK, I doubt that it's freely obtainable in Malta.

They sell Brad Penn in The Netherlands, so I'm wondering why nobody is selling in the UK.

drag - I'm in the UK so we expect to get away with a 60 Wt in our hemi - if it ever stops raining this year ;-)
TWD - can't find anyone selling Brad Penn in the UK which is why we ended up going with Torco. Perhaps we could pick some up when we go to Drachten....
