TOP ALCOHOL CLASSES ADDED TO WOODBURNS ANNUAL FALL CLASSIC

GLENDORA, Calif. (March 18, 2013) — NHRA and Woodburn Dragstrip announced today they have added the Top Alcohol Dragster and Funny Car classes to the 28th Annual Fall Classic event scheduled for Sept. 14-15, at the Woodburn, Ore., facility. These two premier classes will join a multitude of other drag racing classes including Top Comp, Northwest Drag Bike, a stock/super stock combo and several bracket classes that regularly compete at the annual event.

“The alcohol cars will be a great addition to our Fall Classic event,” said Jay Livingston, Woodburn Dragstrip. “The Top Alcohol Dragster and Funny Car racers have always put on a great show at our track and are a fan favorite here in Woodburn.”

The event will also act as an NHRA West Region Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series points earning event for the alcohol dragster and funny car classes as they will be competing for points leading to NHRA national and regional championships.

The NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series also makes a stop at Woodburn Dragstrip in July where all series classes will be earning points toward NHRA Championships.

The West Region kicked off its season earlier this month in Chandler, Ariz., makes two stops in Las Vegas, March 29-30 and Oct. 31-Nov. 3, and stops in Mission, B.C., June 14-16 and Seattle, Aug. 17-18 in addition to the pair of events in Woodburn, Ore.

Spencer Martin and Jay Payne won the opening round at Firebird International Raceway in Chandler, Ariz., in Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car respectively.
