I am requesting a little help / guidance regarding an cylinder head service tool tray setup.

Basically, I want to hear from anyone who is using a setup, where two tool trays sit on either side of the car (one for LHS and RHS cyl heads), like what Triple T use, and what most of the FC's use (that I have seen atleast).

Yes, this will be used on a Dragster, but from my personal experience, putting a roll-bar mount tool box on and off the car twice during a turn around is a bit cumbersome, especially if you have limited crew.

If you have such a setup, (or even a roll-bar mount tray), could you post up some details so I could scrounge around. I have looked at the Triple T trays, but they are hideous amounts of money!

I was thinking of having a roller chest each side of the car, with a tool tray for each cyl head ontop.

    Thanks for any help,

    Andrew

    Fuel Car

Even on the Fuel car, when only 1 guy is doing heads, the tray stays on the table. I would base the call on how many tables you have, and how you use them.

First off servicing heads and doing the top end are two diffrent things. I have two(Rightside & Leftside) tool trays for the removal of the top of the motor.
and a whole seperate area to service cylinder heads. After building these tool trays which are a collaberation of Triple Ts and others. The time spent fab and welding aluminum. made me second guess the cost to just buy from Triple T, I have taken them with me thru 4 diffrent TF operations

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but if you have tables on each side of the car this would work well...

I would set up each side of the car with a Montezuma box and ONLY the tools that are needed for that side of the engine. Those tools would stay in that box and each box would be specific for each side of the engine. For example, the left side box would (could) also hold the tools that the fuel system guy would need to set the barrel valve, etc. If you wanted, your right side box could also hold the clutch tuners tools/parts.

The divers can have a small tool box of their own...
