This fan just wants to say "Thank You !!" for being a part of the best drag racing experience I have ever had.

I know lots of people get excited by the pros (and I do to, very much so...), but as a fan of the alcohol classes there were so many great things I saw that it's hard to remember them all...

Jay Payne running a 52 on Saturday then a 51 on Sunday,

Jackie Stidam running the fastest speed ever on Saturday in the Jeg's All Star (265). note, who is the Leo announcer guy? Jay made the quickest f/c run (prior to today) and Jackie made the fastest within minutes of each other and it apparrently went right over his head because I don't recall him mentioning either. Geesh, maybe I should announce these things...

The quickest ever tad field with a bump in the '30's. The prior record bump spot was 5.464. 21 cars ran quicker than that.

a blown car winning it all in tad. In fact, of the 16 qualifiers, 7 were blown, 9 afuel. For all we hear about afuelers having an advantage in cool weather, it seemed to me (last year as well as this year) that at Route 66 the blown cars tend to be more competitive there (relatively speaking) than at any other track.

John Haley's 5.29 (which may even have been a bit quicker had he not hurt the motor on the top end)

Mitch Myers first qualifying run on Friday that would have given him the national record had he been able to back it up.

Shelly Howard's win in the all stars and exciting run to the finals today.

    Mick Snyder's first national win.

Thanks guys for a great show and many, many memories. I can't wait until next fall at Route 66.

I'd like to echo Wolfgang's comments. It was a great performance weekend at Route 66. The sportsmen classes provided as much excitement as the pros. I especially enjoyed the alky classes. Well done, ladies and gentlemen!

Wolfgang, you're referring to Leo Tower. He's a good, knowledgeable announcer; he does many Division 3 events. If he missed pointing out the record runs, I'm sure it was an unintentional oversight.
