Titanium wrist pins don't really do what we wanted them to do. They are great and will not break on this type of deal, but they flex. The pro stock world started this deal a good while ago. Titanium was light and fairly inexpensive. They made pins and tested, tested, tested. They did weird things. Odd wear on the cylinder walls, pinching ring lands. (The pro stock guys run so close of a ring clearance it is SICK!) It was showing that the piston was flexing. They made them longer and longer, heavier and heavier. They finally got a few sets to work. They were .300 wall pins. They weighed way more than the Maraging, c350, c300 etc pins. They made .350" wall pins, but that is almost solid stock for the love of Pete! The fancy steels were stronger, lighter, more durable, etc.
They can make them out of a Ti 10-2 alloy, but the price and availability makes it just shy of impossible.
Then we get to the point that the Casidium coating did not stick real well to Ti, when steel will hold the stuff through the second coming.
Then you get the vicious memory of Titanium . . .
If you have a set, give them a try, but if you are looking at buying new for a new combo, avoid them.
