After every pass most of the (new) Ex. valves
leaks, somebody somewher has got to have some insight as to why this is happennig.I'm out of ideas on how to prevent it. Maybe change to stainless, like the fuel guys run.

On our nitrous motor we used Inconel to stop the valves from drooping from heat. I am thinking about doing that on our blower car next time we change valves. Does anyone out there have a reason why I shouldn't used Inconel ex valves. Also, that is what I though Top Fuel guys used. I guess I will ask my secret agent that is a crew chief on one of the top fuel teams and see what he says.

There is only one reason to use Ti valves. Weight.

The Manley catalogue has a real good tech piece on which valve material to use and how to tell early warning signs of valve failure, it can be downloaded in pdf format from their website.

Make sure your valve guide clearance is not too tight. It will allow the valve to seat correctly even when the heat of the exhaust might distort the valve and seat slightly.Always better to loose than to tight!
