What Type Of Tire Pressure Gauges Are Most Teams Using I Have Looked Around And Csr Makes A Guage That Is Accurate To +/-0.5% Moroso Has One That Is 2%. The Cost Of The 2 Is About 220.00 For The Csr And 35.00 For The Moroso Longacre Also Has Them For About 50.00 Is The Fact Of Being Accurate Mean That Much Or Is It That Once You Find What Your Car Likes Pressure Wise And Staying With The Same Gauge To Check And Set Pressures. I Need To Get A New Gauge And Want To Find Out What Everyone Thinks About This I Hope I Havent Opened A Can Of Worms Thanks Jamie

I have the CSR gauge. At all the National events CSR always has a trailer and will calibrate it for nothing or you can send it to them and they will calibrate it for free.

I have checked a lot of other gauges against it and have found some gauges racers are using are up to a 1 1/2 off even though advertized at being within 2 percent. I have helped racers that have been in constant tire shake because their gauges were off.

i agree with mike, you need a good gauge. i'm not saying go spend $200, but i would buy the gauge you can afford. we use an old moroso, and it works just fine. i checked it against a csr, and mine was 1/2 lb off. all you really have to do is always use the same gauge, and listen to your car, it will let you know what it likes. just my 2 cents.

When Measureing Tire Pressure Does Anyone Ever Check Tire Circumfrence To Make Sure The Tires Are The Same Size At The Same Pressure Also Does Anyone Ever Run The Tire Pressure So That The Tires Are The Same Size And Not Worry About The Actual Psi That Is In The Tire. Seems To Me That A Tire That Is Larger Than The Other Will Cause A Pull To One Side With A Locked Rear (spool) Etc
Maybe I'm Thinking To Hard About This I Know Circle Track Guys Adjust Air Pressure To Help The Cars Turn (stagger) But Does It Affect Drag Cars The Same Way Just Seems Like A Tire That Is Larger Will Push The Car In The Opposite Direction Causing It To Be Harder To Control (just A Thought) Thanks Jamie

i know when i buy a set of tires i have the hoosier guy measure them, and make sure they are the same. they put like 30 psi in them, and measure. i had one that was 1/2" bigger than the other, so he put like 45 psi in that one and let it back down to 30. he measured it again, and it was right on. i have about 15 passes on them, and they still check within 1/8" at 5.5lbs.

I check the circumferance on the slicks every day of a race. The max I will run is 3/8 of an inch difference between the slicks. Any more variation than that and the car will tend to move around ( TAFCs move around enough, I dont want to add fuel to the fire :p ) Even a brand new set of hoops from Hoosier I check once they are on the car and aired up to where they need to be. I had a set that one slick was 2 inches larger than the other. I jacked the pressure up on the smaller one and let it sit for hours and it wouldnt strech that far. So I wound up having Hoosier swap out a slick for me. I love Hoosier products but even those guys can make mistakes, always double check the roll out.

As far as the gauge, we use a CSR. Ive dropped it, zinged it by putting it on the liner stem instead of the slick stem and CSR has always taken care of it. Not to say Moroso or somebody wouldnt ( I used a B&B on my s/c car ) but CSR has take care of us, no questions asked for years.
