timing

    on 526 hemi should the rotor button be pointing to number1 cyl on the dist cap when the engine is on top dead center or ahead a bit

    turn the motor forward until the intake valve closes, then continue turning until you get to your desired timing, for example 26 degrees BEFORE top dead center.

    the rotor should be pointed towards the #1 terminal on the cap while you are twisting the rotor against rotation (hemi is counter clockwise, so twist the rotor clockwise).

    check the timing with a light when the motor is fired, and adjust from there.
