What would be a good starting point for timing on a KB Olds 526.
AJPE heads, ~11:1, Littlefield K11 @20%, Carbon hat, Clutch, 4 speed lenco,
    4.33:1 rear. MAG 44, MSD 8971 box.
Where do we start to retard on boost and how much per LBs boost?

We are our own engine guys :)
We bougt this engine in feb. and has restored the most during the season, now its only one event left (next weekend). Previous engine we run was blown gas 540, so we just need a base to start with, going a calm 60 ft. for a try out, then a 1/8 if every thing looks good and take it from there.

    Lars,

Which heads? Sounds like a similar combination. On our KB-Olds with ALPE BBC Alcohol Billet heads we run 35 degrees and seems just about right. Hope this helps.

The timing depends on the chamber size.14 degree stuff will make big power at 30 degrees.32 max.I don't know clutches but it will be mean on the hit. You might pull some timing and ramp it back in after the launch. Don't retard with boost.

It really depends on what head you are using. It is very hard to help if we don't have enough information. I run 36 degrees on my 456 ci KB Olds Alan Johnson billet stage 1 Alky Head, 47% 6-71. Buddy I help on has Big Chief head and we run 31%
