Thompson Shakes and Bakes in Norwalk

Norwalk Ohio - For the second week in a row Clint Thompson and his team had another quarterfinal finish, but this time in Norwalk, Ohio at the NHRA Summit Nationals. The heat was brutal in Ohio but the Friday night wind storm last week in Chicago won’t soon be forgotten either.

Thompson qualified fifth in Norwalk with a 5.72 at 256 MPH and took on number 15 qualifier John Anderika. Unfortunately for Anderika, he rolled through the lights giving Thompson the win. Anderika’s red light would turn out to be a gift as Thompson shook the tires right off the line.

In round two, Thompson raced Paul Gill. Gill got off the line first but started to experience tire shake and was forced to shut off. Meanwhile, Clint also encountered tire shake but drove through it and then got out of shape crossing the center line and hit the timing blocks which disqualified him. “I’m bummed out about our race results. Paul Gill had already clicked it due to his own shake and it was my race to lose at that point” Thompson said.

Thompson thanked his crew who survived the brutal heat all weekend. “I really appreciate the help from my great crew: Danette, Bob Miner, Vic Miller, and Chuck Rarrick. They all did a great job and I appreciate it. That was some miserable heat but we still had a good time and we are truly blessed to be able to go play the game” Thompson added. This coming weekend Thompson is on to Martin MI this weekend to race his Pro Extreme Camaro in the ADRL series.
