According to Graham light on TV tonight the fields are set for Monday but if it is rained out and and must be continued next weekend ,qualifing will be opened up and run on Saturday. I cannot remember this ever happening. Can anyone tell me if this has ever happened before or is this a new ruling? I always thought that once the fields were set there would be no further qualifing. Or does it matter who is qualified and who isn't.

Its NHRA. They can change the rules as they please. They have to give the sponsors time to pay for the new rulings, hence the one week timeframe.:p

    Rainout

The way I remember it, this is nothing new, as this format has been done many times through the years.
If they started eliminations of anything on THAT weekend, the fields are set.
If there was only 1/2 the qualifying and the race was moved to a later date, it might be only ONE shot, but gives the higher already "in" guys a test run also, for fairness. (hard sometimes to use that word when discussing NHRA)
EDIT: No new entries are allowed, only the cars that were ON the grounds from the start.
