I need to buy an infrared temp gun yesterday. I dont want to get a cheapy that wont do everything I may need in the future. What brand and model are you guys using and what will they do for what kind of price? Where did you buy the one you have? My current need is for under 200* but Ill want to use the same tool for tuning later on.

Temp guns are a great tool. The Raytek gun is only $79 from most places and works great up to 750F. I use it all the time to check idle temps on the exhaust while adjusting the barrel valve. Tires, fuel, oil pan, track temp...if you get the model with the laser spot, it even makes a great cat toy.

If you've got data aquisition and sensors everywhere, you might not use it much. Otherwise, it can help you troubleshoot problems.
