We were joking around about some things in the shop this past weekend, when an idea came to mind. It's so easy it's scary.

Allow the blown cars to have additional front overhang - nose extensions. It's also easily adjustable, and probably the cheapest solution I've heard.

If a deep stage kills .02-.03 (even more if you're the tuner talking about how quick it woulda run :) ) , then what do you think a 6" extension would be worth?

I'll throw this to the masses.

If it's approved, I'll have the quick kits available for sale....box top, 200 mph tape...

I think that the staging comparison needs to take into account the speed of the car. At basically 0 MPH at the starting line moving 6 inches takes a little bit but at 270 6 inches much... well actually its:

    270 miles/hr*(1/3600 hr/second)*(5280 ft/mile)*(12 inches/ft) = 4752 (inches/second) meaning 6 inches would be worth (1/4752 seconds/inch * 6 inches) = .00126 seconds so just over a thou.

So if ya ever wanted to know what every inch at the stripe is in terms of MOV I suppose a good estimate would be 5 inches for every .001 seconds at 270 MPH.

If you go backwards through all that garbage I just did estimating that the 6 inches at the starting line is worth .03 seconds then the approximate average speed of the car as it leaves the beams is...carry the two....divide by infinity.... 11.364 MPH. (Reasonable?) I hope that makes sense cause its too late to be thinking this hard.

PS, my car runs good to half track, can I give a 2 second head start then get a 660 foot extension on the nose? ;)

    That would equal parity. Hilarious.

i hate it when facts get in the way of a good idea...

sounded like a good idea in the shop. i just know the pro mod guys made a big deal out of overhang and body styles...
