We haven't finalized the details but here's what we're working on.

Let me start off by saying this is something I'm helping David Brounkowski organize. This is not a Pro Sportsman Association function. I will be at the D3 Regional in Joliet during this weekend....just helping him put it together.

We are looking at doing a one-day show at Dallas Raceway (now operated by Ken and Molly Hall). $1500 to $2000 to enter. NHRA rules - nitro, fuel temp, blower type/overdrive, weight, safety, etc. 1/4 mile. If we get at least 8 cars at $1500 we can pay $10k to win and $2k to the r/u, if we get $2000 to enter it's $10k to win and $6k to r/u. With more cars we can up the purse.

The suggested format is a four car show with one shot to qualify. With more entries we can expand to 2 qualifying shots...but we are trying to keep the run count down. With 8-10 cars, you make the first shot your qualifying run, quickest 4 cars pair off for normal eliminations (1 vs 4, 2 vs 3) winners run for the money in the final. If there are 10-12 cars, would probably go to 1 more run with 1 qualifying shot for an 8 car field. Testing would be open and optional.

The track is running a 10.5/Pro Mod race that we would be running in conjunction with. The track/promoter is not contributing to the purse at this point. As much as I hate to go put a race on for free, this is an effort by some of the local Texas racers that lost a lot of races to put on a race in Texas, and not have it drag out into a 3-4 day deal.

Right now we have 5 hard commitments and a few more tentatives. Email me at will.hanna@insidetopalcohol.com if you are interested.

If there are enough TAFC teams that want to jump in, I'm sure we could get something going. I just think there needs to be enough teams to get the pot up there enough to justify the 'pot odds'.

Dallas Raceway is an all concrete track in Crandall, Texas (not too far from Ennis). It's an IHRA track. Everyone I have talked to says the place is top notch and it has a good smooth surface. The track's website is www.dallasraceway.com

Is this the race that Bonnie Webb is coordinating? I spoke with Ro about doing a match race there and we have been SO Busy, that I haven't followed up in a couple of weeks. (my bad)

The last I heard, we weren't going to pay an entry (more like testing) and she was going to try and cross market for us to be there and do a Chicago style match race and try to build her outlaw race.

A gambler's race is cool, exhibition passes would be good too......

Pro Mod entry for Pro Extreme and Pro Nitrous (separate classes) is $500.00

Yes, this is the same race. Maybe Bryan Brown and Steve Burck will want to do something? Ron Morrison in OKC isn't too far either.

I'd be in for that weekend. $1500 is alot, but still cheaper than driving 800 miles to a race. Billington's in DFW now, he might be interested. I'd be in for just a test session also. Anytime I can go racing and get home on the same tank of gas, I'm in

    Bryan,

The dragster deal is really something a few of the local TAD guys wanted to put together since there are no races in Texas outside of the national event.

I'm really doing this as a favor to David. I'm really not wild at all about the fact that we are not getting paid a dime by the track or promoter, but maybe it will open some doors in the future. These guys wanted to have a race, and rather than try to haggle with owners/promoters, they basically told me to find somewhere that would let them race. If there is 8 cars, there's 6 that will go home empty handed, but if you got a good running car, you got a shot at making 3 runs, one day and putting 10k in your pocket. "Gambler"...

As far as the FC guys/gals go, it's among you guys what you want to run for. Whether it's $150 or $1500, if you only have 4-5 cars it's not really worth the 'gamble.' - you are pushing $1500 at $6k if it's winner take all. Pot odds as they say in poker.

Why not just have a Texas Hold'em tournament? You sit in comfortable chairs, pretty girls bring you free drinks, and you don't have to work on your car afterwards. ;):D:)

Hi Mark, Crandall is a 1/4 mile track, DallasRaceway.com I spoke with Bonnie on Thursday and was going to call all TAFC's this week to see whose interested. Seems the Dragster guys have something that works for them, our deal is Way different, Chicago Style as Testing / Exhibition ONLY No Entry. Just Major Marketing for Fan Appeal and we can sell Merch, the more the better.

This track is a good track and they need all the support they can get so we can keep them around for the future............

We're working on a Sponsor for payout (Bonnie and Myself, but nothing is firm and may or may not come to fruition) and we have given Bonnie permission to use pictures for advertising.

This week opens up a little for me so I can do some phone calling to see who we can RSVP.

I'll call you during the week or feel free to call me anytime. Bryan, I left you a message.

    Take care everyone!!

Thanks Nancy. I would not go to just run the car, it costs me too much to bring crew in, and I have 2 points meets in June I would like to go to. If there was a sizeable purse I would pursue it. I will be around that weekend however to help others.

Sounds like a good time for me and my team. We currently have 3 crew confirmed for this race and I'll talk to the others this week. Thank you for putting this deal together.

Were working on it Mark, but there are for sure no guarantee's. I'll keep you posted though. I knew there were two Regionals in there, so we'll just see how it goes.

    Take Care,

    Crandall track

i was there this weekend testing my car and they had a couple of AA/FA testing. i was 1.00 60' and the track held great. saw one fuel altered run 6.45 @ 128 1/4 after lifting early. Ken and Molly are great folks and know how to run a track and prepare for big events.

    Just my .02

Bonnie, I'll send you all the funny car guys since several of them don't visit this particular forum. For the Dragster peeps, if Will or someone sends me an email or PM all the names, I can get you those too, since some of those guys don't go online either......

    Nancy

Dave -- ck your FB :)

Newkirk -- call me, I left you a message, have some info for you regarding Engine Parts available in Indiana for our current combination......
