Hoping someone may be able to help, I have a fuel Altered running to nostalgia fuel specs with Mallory Supermag V 5 amp.

On a pass it seems to just shut off at about 2.4 sec and splutters twice and out all together.

Could this be the symptoms of a bad coil?

With an ohm meter you can check the coil.

You could test it with a VOM but that won't indicate what's going on when the motor is running. I'd send it over to Spud at Fuel Injection Enterprises as he can put it on his computerized magneto test machine and tell you EXACTLY what it's doing when in operation. Better yet, send him your mag and coil and get them tested together. You'll know how they perform together, and get exact results of the amperage and voltage output throughout the entire rpm range.

I had exactly the same problem on my nostalgia fuel dragster with 5 amp Mallory Mag and mallory coil. it would drop cylinders and splutter from 330' onwards.
what coil are you using? what spark plugs? what plug gap? what leads?

I ended up installing a new Cirello Frankenstein 10 amp mag and matching coil, (Problem is gone) but I believe my root cause wasnt the mag V or the mallory coil . I believe I had a combination of too much plug gap and not enough mag and the fuel was blowing out the spark.

set plug gap at .016", installed the Cirello arc welder and it runs sweet

    Cheers
