SM X has a unilite trigger with a shutter rotor. I have an electronic points box under development that will work with a super mag or external coil vertex. The box uses a crank trigger and an msd timing box, and lets you use a six shooter to retard the timing. No soft rev limiter yet but I'm working on it. It may also be possible to install a mag trigger in the magneto but I have not experimented with that yet. My unit will work with the SM X as is (not requiring the crank trigger). My guess is that the MSD pro mag unit will not work very well with the vertex because the internal windings of the vertex are very different electrically from the windings in the pro mag.
