I have a top sportsman car i am switching from a BBC to a hemi keeping it blown alky. With the BBC i was running mid 6.70s. With the new power i am converting my rear end to a full floater and a few other safety items. I am considering carbon brakes but not sure. Obviously strange is way cheaper but is there much different in the strange equipment and mark williams? I am on a limited budget so i am looking for input on the 2 and if the carbon brakes are necessary when i never had any concerns going 208 mph before.

A lot of blown promods use Strange carbon brakes with no problems. Same on Strange Ultra case with big bearings and 9 1/2” gears.

I have strange carbon brakes and ultra case. Never really had a problem with my floater setup. However spend the money up front and buy the billet 3rd member. Last I looked into it Strange priced themselves right up there with MW, and at that point it’s mark Williams hands down! There floater bearing setup with the snap ring is way better at keeping proper bearing tension.

I already have 2 ultra case center sections so im good there. Its a matter of deciding which floater kit to put in and if i wanna switch the brakes to carbon. I am assuming if i put carbon rears on i need to or atleast should put carbon fronts on as well. Mark Williams is way expensive compared to my pricing at strange. Just not sure which way to go spending that kind of money

Strange carbon brakes have stopped several pm’s i know that chutes did not open with no problems. You will not have a problem with Strange.

Thanx Mike. Any input on the floater assembly? I hear the strange is nowhere near as good as mw? Also do i need to change the master cylander or any other part of the brake system outside the carbon brake kits?

What struts do you have up front? Have you considered pricing a front/rear carbon complete brake package, with matched master cylinder, from Lamb?

I currently have strange front struts brakes and strange rear brakes. my main concern is the floater rear end I want to change. like I said I am on a limited budget which my car has worked really well in the mid 6.70s so suspension does not seam to be an issue. I want it safer and strong since I am switching to a hemi itll have more power.

If your housing will accept it, I'd go with a 10" ring gear .I just bought a complete billet 10" third member from Carmack Engineering, it's a nice piece and VERY competitively priced

If you have a deal with Strange..stay with what you know.I've used both floater kits years ago..both good,,liked tge MW using the snap ring but thats not a deal breaker...carbon is good but can be a hassle if you need to bake them.using Strange drop out center 10 in live axle w/carbon brakes now..love it
