Harker ready to compete with the 'best of the best'

Joliet, ILL - Australian Top Alcohol Funny Car driver, Steve Harker is preparing to do battle with the 'Best of the Best' at this weekend United Association NHRA Route 66 Nationals. Harker will represent the South Central Division Four in the Jeg's All-Stars competition held on Saturday before competing in the events main eliminations on Sunday.

This prestigious event is the home of two races in one for the Lucas Oil Sportsman Series competitors. The Jeg's All-Stars showcases the best drivers in each of the seven divisions who compete for bragging rights and a chance to double up on trophies and prize money on Sunday.

Harker has had a successful start to the season with two National event wins, a runner-up finish and a win at the Lucas Oil Series Division Four event. The team is looking to just keep the momentum going. The native Australian has been competing in the USA for ten years in the Top Alcohol Funny Car class and this will be his second showing in the Jeg's All-Star's event on Saturday.

"We are looking to improve on our performance from here last season" comments Steve "We have a very consistent hot rod coming into this event and just plan to keep it one round at a time. The team has been working over time the last few weeks and I would like to thank them for their dedication and hard work to our racing program."

This will be Harker's sixth event for the season and plans to compete at sixteen events this year. Harker would like to recognize the support of his sponsors including i40, Inc, Lucas Oil Products, Southern Safety Supply, Slim Pickens Quality Meats, Ringers Gloves, and Oakley.

Qualifying for the Top Alcohol Funny Cars and Dragsters begins Friday at 10.30am and 4.30pm with final session on Saturday at 9am. Main Eliminations for the Top Alcohol category begin Sunday at 12pm following first round of the Professional Cars. The Jeg's All-Star's eliminations begins Saturday at 10am concluding at 5pm.
