Just a question for you guys. What starter fits the best for KB block with oil rail on driver side. I have a tilton starter, but it has to be ground down to nothing to even fit. Is there any special starter for this. I have ATI bellhousing to powerglide case. The KB block is very old (possibly stage 1) and may be one of the first executions.
No blower, N/A and onboard starter.

    starter

We use a Tim McAmis adapter plate between starter and mid plate. We put a notch in oil pan just below pan rail so we can pull the oil pan without removing starter. Faster and no chance of not getting the starter drive lined back up with flywheel teeth. The plate is real thick so you can mill it down to get the correct teeth contact. Haven't had a problem yet starting our blower engine.
