LOUIS – When Etterman Racing, Inc. headed to St. Louis, they had more than just another race on their mind. The team confirmed the culprit of their parts attrition problem after three consistent runs that led to a 5.892-second elapsed time and No. five qualifying spot. The team lost a good race to the seven-time Division 3 champion Danny Townsend in the first round by running an 5.890-second elapsed time to Townsend’s 5.798.

“We couldn’t have asked for a smoother weekend after what we faced earlier this year,” states Jonathan Johnson. “Etterman Racing completed four consistent runs, improved each time and became one of only a few cars that had clean runs down the track every session. Additionally, on top of simply racing, the team came here to test the car after a month hiatus and to get ready for the races ahead. Etterman Racing feels that we have a lot of data to work with now and the car is showing a lot of promise; yet, it was simply hard to lean on the car with track temperatures around 130 degrees F. Nevertheless, we feel confident that the team has a good combination to present in Brainerd, Minnesota this upcoming weekend,” concludes Johnson.

“It was sure a relief to make four runs in a row and come back with everything in the oil pan,” comments George Etterman, team owner. “Sometimes the smallest thing plagues you, but we fixed our ‘gremlin’ and we are excited about the next seven races. This weekend in St. Louis went smoothly and everyone has confidence going into Brainerd next weekend. Jonathan drove very well this weekend and is comfortable once again with the car. However, it’s not too often you get beat with a 0.030-second reaction time, but we thank and congratulate Danny Townsend on a great and clean race,” exclaims Etterman.

Etterman Racing, Inc. will head to the NHRA Lucas Oil Nationals this coming weekend in Brainerd, Minnesota. Keep up with the team and up-to-the-minute results on www.dragracecentral.com. Lastly, Etterman Racing would also like to send our thoughts and prayers to the family of Super Comp racer Rockey Keyes, who passed away Saturday night in Houston, Texas. Everyone will truly miss him.
