I had an interesting conversation at Sonoma with a certain individual. I was told everything that has been discussed so far with the newly formed PRO Safety Committee concerning "safety" has had nothing to do with race tracks or their responsibility, and everything proposed or discussed has been all about fixing the race cars.

If this is true, it certainly is short sighted. I know what we spend every year in order to make our car as safe as it can be, but somewhere along the line the tracks need to be reviewed and required to meet evolving safety standards, too.

I would suggest that the members of the Sportsman Committee (who beat me out of a position on it :D) get in the loop with regard to the PRO discussions by either attending the meetings or getting copies of the minutes to find out what's being discussed if they aren't already doing so.

I don't think I'm too far off when I say guys like Dwayne Shields, Bill Richart and others are probably as fast at the 1,320 as Tony Schumacher is since the change was made to the 1,000 foot race track for the pros. If anyone thinks PRO's discussions aren't relevant to us I'd be surprised. Requirements for Pro cars usually have a 2 year cycle before they are required on our cars. I'd say that qualifies us to be at least "interested observers".
