I hope the rest of the div. 4 tracks paid attention to the spectator count at this race. It was really great. The whole pit side of stands was almost full and had people lined up at the fence all the way down. They were a great crowd too, cheering for the winners etc. It was amazing as the stands at this race every year ar almost bare. Thanks to HRP for doing some advertising that brought the folks out. And they got some good racing action as well. Also thanks to Jeff Wilson. He was the only blown dragster there but even with the good conditions managed to qualify well. Good job all weekend by NHRA checking the fuel and running a good race as well.

Hawk, I bet more Track owner's would advertise if they could afford it. The cost of putting on one of these races is Sky-high from what I heard. But you are right, advertising does work!

This was really a great event. The pit side grandstands were at nearly 3/4 capacity, and to fill that big a set of grandstands really says something. I stood in line nearly 5-10 minutes to get a burger. A lot of fans were buying beer. HRP advertised the event for nearly two weeks prior to the event, gave out a lot of tickets, and the results were evident. I wouldn't be surprised to see more fans at the nationals in a few weeks as well.

Look for a interview with track GM Gerald Critchfield later this week.

    Darren,
Mostly on Sunday but I think that is where most of the advertising was directed. There did seem to be quite a lot of people milling around durning qualifing on Sst. but nothing like Sunday.
Shows what can happen when you put a little seed money out.
