Can these be used with the heads on, between rounds if necessary?

Never mind, just read the instructions, so for a veney head deal, ngk 6061-10 plug, which insert would you use? would you use aluminum or steel insert? why does it mak the egt read different? and what about the plug, does it read different?

Dave, Time-Sert plug repairs do not change the EGT. If you use the original copper colored inserts then the reading of the fuel ring on the porcelein of a plug on a gasoline engine might read cooler. This applies to NA and nitrous cars on gasoline and not alcohol cars. The reason being is the insert changed the amount of heat transfer from the plug to the head. Now Time-Sert makes an optional insert material if one is worried about that problem. It is made out of aluminum so it transfers the same amount of heat.

I have used the Time Sert to fix plug threads at the track and everyone should have a kit with them. The only problem I have ever had is that last time we had the heads worked on, and some of the cracks fixed, the guy put inserts in every plug hole which was OK but then I had some inserts back out and come out with the plug. I am positive that the insert was not installed correctly and was too high out of the hole. Time-Sert recommends a special Locktite that can stand up to heat and I put this inserts back in using this special Locktite and have had no further problems.

    no steel

just remember a steel insert can act like a glow plug....i recommend using aluminum insert if possible.

Will, I agree but one needs to make sure that they buy the correct length insert for the application. The insert should noy extend into the chamber ever.
