I am running a blown alcohol small block ford with a kobelco 1471 h/h superman and a pro mag 44 and am having trouble trying to find a good spark plug, I would really love to run a NGK 6061-10 but dont have the room, the plug needs to have a 5/8 hex on it not 13/16 can anyone help me out here
    thanks

Im just concerned about having a long ground strap, I was hoping to get away from that, even if I have to go to another brand

Then try an Autolite AR3932. It has a shorter ground strap.

It is said that if they are too long that they have a tendency to light up like a glow plug and cause detonation. This would only happen if you went too far on the timing or way too lean on the fuel. Then I have other racers say that they like a long groundstrap to be an indicator if something is going wrong. If the groud strap gets a little nipped or rounded then you may have a blocked jet or too much timing.

I guess you could always go back to the old top fuel plugs we used to use, like an N60R, with an internal ground pin.

    compare

Whats the difference between NGK #'s 6061 and B9ES?

I've heard some healthy HP gains after going to 6061's.

    How is that possible?

The B9ES is a 13/16 hex version of the 5/8 hex R5671A-10. The 6061-10 has a very short side groundstrap vice the longer over the top groundstrap. The Autolite AR3932 has a over the top cutback ground strap.

Racers swear by the fact that 6061's give more power. The only thing I can think of why is that the spark is more uncovered with the side electrode.

The 6061's cost more but are more forgiving if the motor has been leaned out too much.
