South Georgia Motorsports Park has up graded its drag strip. The newest Div. 2 strip which had been concrete to 800 ft. has been lengthed to all concrete thru the whole quater mile. The concrete was poured yesterday and today using a lazer screed to insure smoothness. This will surely upgrade and already first class facilty.

South Georgia motorsports parks surface is being ground this weekend. The all concrete track had some bumps in it. The Penhall company of Austell, GA. who has ground tracks for the NHRA and IHRA should complete the grinding process by Monday night. I would like to invite all TAFC, TAD and AFD teams to the DIV. 2 race there the first weekend of June. The complex is one of the nicest in sportsman drag racing.

Awesome facility, awesome owner (Shad). The only negative is trying to get there from the Northeast, since there is no good way to get there from 95.

You can take HWY.84 from the coast[ I-95 ] All the way to Valdosta, GA.[ I-75]. South Georgia Motorsports Park is apprx. 20 miles above Valdosta just off I-75.

Word has it that Atlanta Dragway has been sold to either Lowes, or Home depot and will be sacked after this years event. Heard that the event is going to the Valdosta track. If you read between the lines in Bob Freys Did You KNow Feature, it tells a little about it.

When I first thought about Valdosta getting a national event I figured that it [Valdosta ] was too small. Then you figure in the surrounding areas. Valdosta just met the the standards for metro status.Tallahasee, FLA. is a hour and fifteen mins. away. Jacksonville, FLA. is a hour and fortyfive mins. away. Gainesville,FLA. is a hour and a half away. Macon, GA. is two and a half hours away. Atlanta, GA. is three hours away. That is a whole lot of population to draw from in relatively small region. The track it self is just off I-75 and be seen from the interstate.

Where is Bob Frey's article "Did you know" found on the web where he talks about the southern nat's moving to South GA Motorsports Park??? We race on a regular basis at the Atlanta track and have heard no such VIABLE rumors that the track has been sold to Home Depot or Lowe's. Just curious.
