everyone is ok according to larry. his dad and one of his crewmembers are a little banged up, but fine. car's a little banged up from stuff flying, but it stayed strapped down.

apparently, they were coming down a grade, some car slammed on their brakes, he went to go around on the outside, another big truck slammed on their brakes...somewhere in there, the steering arm on miersch's truck broke, and from there they were along for the ride. they went down into about a 25 ft ravine off the side of the freeway.

luckily nobody was hurt. he said the trailer wasn't all that bad at initial glance, but hte truck was totaled.

Thanks to everyone for the kind phone calls and support. My dad and one of our crew guys, Kevin Covell, were on the back side of the Grapevine on their way to Sonoma when this all occured. Basically, they were traveling down the grade at around 30 mph when a semi turned in front of them and hammered the brakes. My dad then tried to slow down before he got too close but to no avail. That is when he clipped the back of that semi. That broke the steering arm. He then went from the slow lane into the center divider and back through the slow lane and over a STEEP embankment. All with no steering.

The truck is a total loss. The trailer is a little beat up and the car has cosmetic damage.

All in all, I can buy more parts and trucks. I can't buy another dad and crewmember. As long as they are safe, that is all that matters.

    Thanks for your concern,
    Larry Miersch

Sorry to here about your loss and I'm glad your Dad and crewmember are ok, was this the big accident that closed the 5 freeway for 12 hours?

Thanks again for the kind words.

Doug- No that wasn't us that caused the closing of the Grapevine. However, I did see the chemical spill and fire just after it happened. It happened around 3 A.M. near Gorman.

Shanna- Thanks. Great to hear from you.

ODI boyz- Great to see some BMX'ers hanging around here. Thanks.
