Nathan Sitko Edmonton Preview

The Sitko Family Racing Alcohol Funny Car team has their premier event of the year on tap this weekend at Budweiser Motorsport Park in Edmonton.

Their major sponsor, Western RV Country, is also the event sponsor this weekend, and that puts welcome pressure on Nathan. The race will possibly be the team's toughest in their young Funny Car career. This is their second year with a Funny Car, after three decades of competing with Alcohol Dragsters.

Nathan has to battle a field cut in half by the new IHRA rules. Last year, 16 cars were allowed to race on Sunday, This year only 8 will show their stuff come race day. With as many as 14 trying out for the 8 car field, including all the top teams in the IHRA, the bump could very well be quicker than Nathan has ever run in his life. He is up for the challenge, " we know it is going to be tough this weekend, stated the 20 year old driver". With Rob Atchison, Mark Thomas, Jim Sickles and Terry McMillen here to name a few, a low 6.1 or even a 5.90 could be the #8 spot on the ladder. Locals, John Evanchuk, Scott McVey and Ken Kraus will also be tough".

The team has installed a brand new data recorder, and for the first time, they can look at all the information of each run they make, and tweek the combination a bit more to find the extra tenth they will likely need. Team owner, dad and crew chief Ken Sitko is as excited as a kid in a candy store, when he talks about the new onboard computer. He thinks this is the missing part of the equation for them to be a contender against the IHRA hitters.
