Simonton Beginning 2013 Regional Season at Norwalk‏

C_Simonton Chicago.jpg NORWALK, Ohio (May 15, 2013) – Fan favorite Top Alcohol Funny Car driver Cassie Simonton enters this weekend’s Mickey Mart Rewards Cavalcade of Stars with renewed confidence in her KonRodzRacing.com Monte Carlo after near-career best numbers at the team’s last event in Charlotte, N.C. She’s looking to set new bests and win rounds in front of tens of thousands of fans this weekend.

“We’re staying positive going into this race; not letting the past two races get us down. The car ran 5.55 to win first round at Charlotte a few weeks ago, but we were trying to go further into eliminations. We went to the final round the last time we were at Norwalk, so we’ll try to use that data to keep our momentum going at this track. We also want a strong start to our 2013 regional season,” said the Minnesota native, who reached the final round at the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals at this track last year.

Simonton and her Randy Anderson-led team will be racing in front of a sold-out crowd at Summit Motorsports Park this weekend, May 17-19. The Cavalcade of Stars continually breaks the record for fan attendance at Lucas Oil Series races. This is a huge motivating factor for Simonton and the Kon Rodz team.

“Coming out here and racing in front of forty thousand-plus fans is very exciting. The stands and pits are always full of fans. It pumps us up to put on a show for them and get the chance to interact with the fans of Lucas Oil Series drag racing.”

On top of interacting with fans at the track, Cassie and select members of the team took part in an appearance at Croghan Colonial Bank on Wednesday.

“We were invited to go to Croghan Colonial Bank, a bank in downtown Norwalk. We brought the car out to bring attention to Croghan’s cookout event today, as well as to invite fans to join us at the race this weekend. I signed autographs and some of the team was there to answer questions about what we do. It was a great opportunity to meet fans who might be new to Croghan Colonial Bank, Kon Rodz Racing, or drag racing in general,” Cassie said.

The Cavalcade of Stars will be the debut race for the first of three Bell Racing helmets, custom painted for Cassie by team sponsor Off Axis Custom Paint.
