Short Weekend for Team Patrόn in Las Vegas

Las Vegas, NV (April 2, 2011) – Coming off her best weekend of racing at the GatorNationals in Gainesville, FL where Alexis became the quickest and fastest female driver in the Top Alcohol Funny Car category, Team Patrόn had high expectations coming into the Las Vegas SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals.

The team tested during the Division 7 event prior to this weekend’s National event and was not able to come up with a combination for the challenging Vegas track conditions. This weekend was no different for Team Patrόn, as they faced the same issues. “We were so confident coming off of our successful weekend in Gainesville, and anticipated the same success here in Vegas. We started off behind the eight ball in the divisional race and just weren’t able to recover” says De Joria. “I’m in awe and still can’t believe this was the first time we didn’t qualify in three years, but I’m ready to move beyond this, and focus on getting ready for Houston.”

Team Patrόn has a month to come together and figure out what the issues are with the car. The crew will go through the car- front to back- and test until they find the solution. Says De Joria, “I’m amazed, this has always been a solid car. Once we figure out what the problems are, I have no doubt we will come out on top in Houston.”

Alexis and Team Patrόn will race next at the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Spring
Nationals in Houston, TX April 29th- May 1st.

The determination to ‘blaze her own trail’ continues to drive her and push her to higher levels in the dangerous, male dominated sport of drag racing. Alexis recently announced that she will transition into the Nitro Funny Car category in the fall of 2011. She will receive assistance from the Kalitta Motorsports team.
