Anybody using a production short deck Chev block for blown alcohol?
Planning on making around 1600 HP.
I'm just looking for your opinions, is this something that is safe or is it better to spend the money and buy a Dart ?
    Thanks

    Jason..

Hi, we ran a filled 2 bolt with Moroso splayed caps for many years around the 1200-1500 HP mark until a tired rod let go and destroyed everything !! However, I would suggest you get the real deal as the time and cost to set the block up with the caps etc made it almost as expensive as an after market block. I now run a Merlin 3 with no problems. Cheers

Don't spend money that is going to get hurt with a weak link like that. Go find an old merlin pro, a bowtie, or get the dart. It is worth it in the investment. (Also nice that you can get free cubic inches with using the larger bore and unshroud the intake valve while you are at it.) More power, more strength, and better long term investment.

If you are going to get a different block, get a tall deck. They really like the longer rod.no matter what stroke you run.And you can fab. or buy plates for the intake if you have one already.you can Dow it and add some counter sunk bolts if you like. It is real easy. Did it for years. Don
