Duane Shields and the Muscle Milk team returned to the "Bellagio of Drag Racing" better known as the ZMax Dragway for the DeWalt NHRA Carolina Nationals. The Charlotte track is one of the nicest facilities on the NHRA tour.

Duane was off to a great start in qualifying by ending up 3rd with a decent 5.23 at 277 MPH. This set up a first-round match-up with Dan Dietrich. At the hit, it was Duane out first with a .110 to Dietrich's .145. But then close to the 60-foot mark Duane lost traction and tried pedaling the dragster twice but the car did not recover and Dietrich took the win with a beatable 5.90 over Duane's traction plagued 6.75. "We are very disappointed. We had high hopes coming into this race with a new fuel system but the track deteriorated some and our tune-up didn't hold." Duane said.

Next, the team moves onto Virginia for an NHRA Lucas Oil Regional Drag Racing Series event. We love going to Virginia. It's a fast track. We hope to rebound there with a win" Duane said. Duane would like to thank his sponsors Muscle Milk, NGK Spark Plugs, GRP Connecting Rods, Clean Boost, SRI, and Brad Anderson Enterprises for their support of Shield's Racing in 2021.
