Last week there was a post regarding the sfi underbody paint and the fact that the rulebook says it is on a one year recert. I emailed the tech department yesterday and got this response today.

    In a message dated 1/20/2010 4:11:15 P.M. Pacific Standard Time, sallen@nhra.com writes:
We will be examining the coating applied in 2009 for proper coating. We currently are not requiring the coating to be reapplied or recertified. If we feel the coating looks to be coated improperly or in need of touch up we will refer you to contact TPR2. At this time we will not be turning anyone away with a 2009 SFI tag unless we feel that the coating was applied improperly or is showing a need to touch up.

    So, there you have it.

    Thanks

Thanks Clint- good call, Unlike some of you rich guys (lol) I could easily see a two inch thick coat of TPR2 on my body. One coat every year forever. Can I polish TPR2? Once it is thick enough I can strip away the carbon fiber and just run the two inch thick layers of TPR2. At what point does the NHRA's seemingly profit driven (safety) motives run out of steam? I just want to know when my safety stickers will need safety stickers? They are the only thing on the car unprotected right now. Dave Germain

If it helps anyone out. I could hook you up with 1/2 gallons or Gallons for $60 or $110 respectively without a Tag if you only need to touch up.
