    Bellemeur Scores Another Victory

ANAHEIM, CA — Having won in their last outing, Sean Bellemeur and the Meer Homes Top Alcohol Funny Car crew was feeling a little bit rusty, due to an unusual layoff between events. However, they were determined to pick up right where they left off and hoped to continue their winning ways. This time, they challenged their friends in Division 6 at Woodburn, Oregon. Friday’s first qualifying attempt saw Sean shake, rattle and roll. Crew chief, Bob DeVour, made adjustments to the clutch while car owner, Ron Meer worked on the fuel system needs for Saturday. Their race car responded to treatment as Bellemeur reeled off a nice 5.86 at 247 mph. At the time, that was good for the top spot.

For the final qualifying session, DeVour and Meer figured consistency wins races, so they chose to tune the car for a similar performance, and the scoreboards lit up with a 5.89. When the dust had settled, they found themselves in the fourth position, which brought lane choice for Sunday’s first round. Devour said, “We’re not trying to rotate the earth with this thing. Ron and I look for a balance and try to run what the track will give us. So far, it’s worked out.”

The finals started as Sean dispatched Alexis DeJoria in round one with a great starting line advantage, running 5.80 at 250 mph to continue the team’s consistency. That set up a semi-final match with Dennis Taylor, who ran Low E.T. and Top Speed of the event in the first round, giving him lane choice over Sean. Bellemeur was not to be denied, as he used a small starting line advantage coupled with a slightly quicker run to get the win. The final paired Bellemeur against Division 6 hitter, Brian Hough, whose foul start handed the win to Sean. Bellemeur continues to lead the Pacific Division 7 standings and the Meer Homes Top Alcohol Funny Car continues its season in Seattle on July 20.
