    Meer and Bellemeur Race Ready

ANAHEIM, CA — It’s been two months since the Meer Homes Top Alcohol Funny Car has tested the competition. Coming off a big win in their last Pacific Division 7 outing, this weekend’s test takes the team to Oregon and Woodburn Dragstrip’s Division 6 contest. That said, driver, Sean Bellemeur, crew chief, Bob DeVour, and car owner, Ron Meer are more than anxious to get back at it. Meer stated, “This has been an unusually long layoff and I’ve been spending way too many hours at the office. They don’t make words that emphasize just how much we’re looking forward to this event. I hope we can pick up where we left off.”

The only upside to having so much time between races was that DeVour and his crew weren’t at all rushed in servicing the car. They had it stripped to the bare chassis and went through each system with a fine tooth comb. Bob mentioned, “I freshened up two motors, both of which had 20 runs on our GRP rods and sent our heads to Medlen Motorsports. This four-race stretch could make our season and the summer heat will prove to be a tuner’s deal.”

Perhaps the most anxious member of Team Meer is Sean Bellemeur, who added, “So far, we’ve had an exceptional year. The car has been consistent and we haven’t suffered any breakage. I just hope we can continue our momentum from that last outing in Fontana. The competition is tough wherever we go and we’ve qualified in both the quick and the not-so quick half of the field. Anything’s possible. I’ll tell you what -- it’s been like torture seeing that car sitting race-ready in the shop with no place to go.” Heading into Woodburn, the Meer Homes Top Alcohol Funny Car has a good chance to continue its successful 2007 campaign. It’s got fresh parts, a rested crew, and a driver who’s itching to stand on the “loud pedal.”
