Third Time is a Charm as Bellemeur Wins in Tucson

Tucson, AZ- The start of the 2007 season has been a good one for the Ron Meer Motorsports (RMM) Top Alcohol Funny Car team as the first two races scored runner up finishes in Pomona and Phoenix. Three was obviously the magic number as the team raced into another final at the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Southwestern International Raceway in Tucson, AZ but this time with a winning result. This earned the team the points and the coveted “Wally” trophy that they set out to get.

“Bob (Devour-Crew Chief) mouthed the word ‘Wally’ to me as he put the body down for the final. From then on I was just focused on getting to the end first.” said Sean, who had never won an NHRA event. “I have dreamed about the chance to hoist one of those trophies over my head since I was a little kid. This is a complete dream come true! Every one on this team puts their entire heart and soul into this car and I am just the lucky one who gets to stomp on the pedal and go for the ride. We worked as a team and won as a team. I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

The RMM team qualified solidly in the number two spot with a 5.831 second run in the tough conditions. Adjusted altitude was shown at over 6000 feet many times over the weekend as Devour and team owner Ron Meer used instincts and a few little tricks to overcome the delicate race track. “This team was runner up here last year and they are really smart when it comes to these tricky tracks. It is a real confidence builder as a driver when you see other teams struggling and our car going right down the track” said the 25 year old driver from Fullerton, CA. “We know how tough it is here on the West Coast so to come away on top is remarkable. I can’t wait for our next race in Las Vegas. I personally want to congratulate and thank our team of Ron and Jill Meer, Bob and Tami Devour, Scott Defrancisco, Dustin Yoho, Ken and Beame Smith, and Erin Adams. Without them I would not have even had this chance.”

The team will have a couple well-deserved weeks off then head to Las Vegas for the Summit Racing.Com Nationals April 10-14. Race fans are invited to stop by and meet the team’s driver and crew.
