    Bellemeur Focused for the Fight

ANAHEIM, CA — Having been uncharacteristically on the wrong end of a starting line advantage last week in Sonoma, Sean Bellemeur is thankful to be racing back-to-back events. By the same token, Ron Meer and Bob DeVour are also glad to be getting right back to it, as the consistency of their Meer Homes Top Alcohol Funny Car has returned to its early season form.

Sean mentioned, “I think we’re fortunate to be racing again this weekend. If we had a week or two between events, that would just give me more time to agonize over going out in the first round at the Fram Autolite Nationals. That misstep was made worse by the fact that Bob and Ron gave me one of the most consistent cars in the field. We’re focused and encouraged by our performance.”

Bob DeVour added, “I didn’t dwell on the last race or try to over analyze it. In my opinion, we had a decent weekend but we just got beat. That’s racing.” Car owner, Ron Meer, and Bob are fortunate to have a great crew that’s capable of handling whatever comes their way. Parts attrition has been kept to a minimum this season and that certainly helps keep team morale on an even plane. Meer mentioned, “It’s not like we have a performance advantage. We’re just making sensible tuning decisions and lately, the track has come to us. To me, the most important thing is to prepare the car carefully and avoid costly mistakes.”

Temperatures are expected to top out in the mid 80s, but DeVour isn’t concerned. His opinion is, “We can only take it one round at a time. If you can’t qualify in three shots, you don’t deserve to be there.” Their goal is six rounds.

Ron Meer Motorsports sends special thanks to Randy Anderson, Chase Knight at Crane Cams, Gary and David Sumek of Lenco, Steve and John at Medlen Motorsports, all their friends at GRP, and Mike Gruber from Valvoline.
