    Bellemeur Quickest in Texas

ANAHEIM, CA — Sean Bellemeur looked forward to racing at the Texas Motorplex because this was his first NHRA national event run outside his home state of California. Qualifying saw 25 cars battling for spots in the 16-car field, and Sean suffered tire shake, which caused an aborted run in the opening session on Friday. Crew chief, Bob DeVour and car owner, Ron Meer, made the necessary adjustments as Sean cruised to a 5.73 at 251 mph in the second qualifying run. Tire shake set in again in Saturday’s last attempt, but the team ended up in the 11th position going into Final Eliminations.

Sean seems to rise to the occasion and to start things off, he parlayed a quick reaction time (.037) coupled with a quicker still 5.68/254.76 to power his way to a round one win. The Meer Homes crew performed its normal between-rounds maintenance and prepared for round two. At the line, Bellemeur had another stellar .037 reaction time and tripped the clocks at 5.622 seconds at 255.43 mph, beating Clint Thompson’s 5.80.

In the Semi-Finals, Sean reacted even quicker at the start but drifted out of the groove a bit, losing a close one – 5.77 to Von Smith’s 5.63. However, his earlier 5.62 stood for Low E.T. of the Event. Sean said, “It’s cool to have success against all these guys out here. It’s a big deal for us to run Low E.T. of the Event, since we were quicker than Jay Payne, Bob Newberry and all the rest.” Having started the season with a runner-up in Pomona, they’d love nothing better than one more round win (and a trophy) at the Auto Club Finals.

Ron Meer Motorsports sends special thanks to Randy Anderson, Chase Knight at Crane Cams, Gary and David Sumek of Lenco, Brian Scollon at GRP, Mike Gruber from Valvoline and Bud from Pendarvis Manufacturing.
