    Bellemeur Looks for Commanding Closer

ANAHEIM, CA — It would be a gross understatement if we told you Sean Bellemeur was anxious to get back to work at the controls of the stunning Meer Homes Top Alcohol Funny Car. Coming into the final Pacific Division 7 race in the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Team Meer stands in first place, but they’re out for more valuable points. Crew chief, Bob DeVour mentioned, “We’ll test on Thursday, but in the past, Famoso Raceway has been good to us. We’ll see what we learn in testing and use that to help gain more points towards the Division 7 championship. That’s our goal.” Car owner Ron Meer added, “Bakersfield has always been special, and I couldn’t think of a better track to host the Division finale. Bob and the guys do a great job preparing this car, so I’d say we’re ready.”

Sean Bellemeur, Team Meer’s talented driver is also cautiously optimistic, as he fully expects the usual host of competitors to show up. NHRA’s Pacific Division 7 is known for attracting 20-plus cars to wage battle for the coveted 8-car qualified fields, and Bakersfield should bring them out of the woodwork. Sean said, “We definitely need to bring our ‘A’ game for this one. I think we’re as well prepared as we’ve been all season.” Although he began 2007 as a rookie (with Meer Motorsports), Sean has his sights set on the Division 7 crown, and he comes into this race sixth in the national point standings with more events yet to claim. If things go as they hope, the Meer Homes Top Alcohol Funny Car will finish at the top of its Division and very near the top in the overall standings.

Ron Meer Motorsports sends special thanks to Randy Anderson, Chase Knight at Crane Cams, Gary and David Sumek of Lenco, Steve and John at Medlen Motorsports, all their friends at GRP, and Mike Gruber from Valvoline.
