KonRodz Racing Hires Schippling to Drive Funny Car

Barrie, Ont. (Jan. 22, 2008) - Spiro Konto has selected T.J. Schippling as his driver for 2008. Kontos is the owner of the KonRodz Racing IHRA Alcohol Funny Car.

“I am very grateful to Spiro for this opportunity,” said Schippling. “I like that he wants to have fun and enjoy his racing but he is committed to winning and success.”

The 29 year old has been working towards a professional driving position since his first trip down a race track 13 years ago. “I have dreamt of driving an Alcohol Funny Car for a long time. And besides the excitement and challenges of driving one, I really can’t wait for that first professional qualifying session at Grand Bend Motorplex in July.”

Since 2001, T.J. has been driving the Lucas Oil Top Dragster owned by his father Thom. His accomplishments include a Top Dragster championship in ‘05. One year later, T.J. earned his Top Alcohol Dragster license in Kansas City, MO. He has traveled the quarter mile in five and a half seconds at over 255 miles per hour.

KonRodz Racing has prepared their 2006 Monte Carlo in anticipation of the first race in San Antonio, TX. The funny car will be tuned and powered by an Al Billes engine. Spiro has assembled his team and has all the best equipment.

“We are very pleased to have T.J. Schippling come on board and take over the driving duties for 2008,” commented Kontos. “He is a rising star in the drag racing community and we feel that T.J. along with the guidance of Al Billes will get my team closer to winning races.”
