Rough Start to 2012 for Hill and Nitro Fever

DSC01199.JPG NORWALK, Ohio – A/Fuel Dragster driver Dave Hill entered the Cavalcade of Stars NHRA regional event without a baseline tune-up for 2012. The Indiana-based Nitro Fever Racing car made three consecutive passes down the track at Summit Motorsports Park, but none of them were enough to propel them into the eight-car Top Alcohol Dragster field.

“We’re still trying to fit some new parts into our tune-up. The car ran well towards the end of the run, but it’s just not getting off the line as quick as we need it to. We had three clean passes all weekend, so we do have a good baseline to work from,” said Hill.

Hill and the Nitro Fever team had the pleasure of racing in front of an estimated crowd of over 40,000 fans. Dave was a part of autograph sessions on Friday and Saturday, where he and other drivers signed hero cards for over 500 fans.

“It was incredible, racing in front of all of those Ohio fans. I’m always so inspired by the families and kids who come out to see the racing. It makes me want to race that much more, so I really enjoy coming to Norwalk,” said the machine specialist.

Crew chief Ben Ameling and the crew will get together and prepare their nitro-burning dragster for the next outing in Chicago. The first race of the year gave them a good base to go off.

“We’re out here to be competitive, so we’re going to try to test at Route 66 Raceway before the Burndown at Sundown regional race. I’m really looking forward to what we consider our home track on the tour,” claimed Hill.

The Burndown at Sundown will take place at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Illinois, June 8-10. Dave Hill and the Nitro Fever Racing A/Fuel Dragster will be joined by another Hill in competition. Son Ryan is set to attend as well, driving the Moldenhauer Racing blown Top Dragster.
