Bateman Goes Two for Two in the West Central Division.

Morrison, CO- Roger Bateman and the Docsholiday.com sponsored Top Alcohol Funny Car team took the victory this past weekend at the Division Five Lucas Oil Divisional Racing Series event contested at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, CO. Bateman has gone two-for-two in LODRS competition, adding this win to his previous Division Five victory last month.

The Friesen Motorsports Top Alcohol Funny Car team traveled to the ‘rare air’ of the Mile High city to compete on one of the nicest racing surfaces in drag racing. Bandimere’s all concrete quarter mile also includes a temperature controlling device under the starting line which keeps the track as cool as possible. After two weeks off the team was ready to do battle with their peers and show that what happened in Joliet was just a fluke and was not the norm. Bateman put the car in the number one spot on the ladder with a 5.912 second elapsed time at a speed of 244.43 mph Friday evening.

To begin elimination on Sunday, Bateman would match up with number six qualifier Robert Kanewisher. A win in this round would give the winner a bye in the semifinals and a free trip to the money round. Bateman took the victory with a 5.858 second elapsed time at 243.41 mph to Kanewisher’s slowing 6.217 second run.

In the semifinals, unopposed Bateman stumbled a bit running only a 5.862 second at 245 mph pass which gave the choice of lanes to his final round opponent, Vern Moats in the final round. As the starting line Christmas tree flashed green, Bateman left first on Moats and never looked back, as Bateman streak down to a 5.854 second elapsed time at 244.38 mph to claim the title “King of the Mountain”.

There will be no rest for the wicked, as the team will pack up and head east to Great Bend, Kansas June 27th to complete at the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Event which was rained out in late April.
