Bateman dominates Denver for first win of season

Roger Bateman and the Nobel Biocare Friesen Motorsports Top Alcohol Funny Car Racing Team have had their ups and downs this season. Last weekend this was one of the biggest for Roger as he beat Kirk Williams for his first win of the 2007 season.

Roger was the number one qualifier at the Bandimere Speedway’s Grease Monkey Thunder on the Mountain NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event with a time of 5.949 seconds at 241.20 mph. The team faced Paul Anderson of Erie, CO in round one. Roger defeated the home state racer 5.995, 239.57 mph to 6.082, 239.10 mph.

With a good elapsed time, Bateman had lane choice in the semi finals against Cy Chesterman of Sioux City, IA. The semi finals pitted two top notch alcohol funny car teams and Roger defeated Chesterman handily 5.960, 241.02 mph to Cy’s 6.011, 238.64 mph.

Once again the Friesen Motorsports/ Nobel Biocare Racing Team had lane choice in the final over the aforementioned Kirk Williams from Glenwood, IA. Roger and Kirk stared each other down in the final and Kirk blinked as Roger beat him 5.964, 241.67 mph to 5.978, 243.06 mph.

Experiencing difficult times in the past have disappeared and the basking of the proverbial glow of a Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series win has taken center stage. All of the teams that competed in Bandimere’s high altitude racing surface should not be left out either as tuning up on the “mountain” can make or break a race team’s experience. The Friesen Motorsports/ Nobel Biocare Racing Team will take the victory and get ready for their next race.
