If you are referring to the first generation 481, I would guess ~ 2000 HP. Top Fuel cars used some in the late 70s (the heads became the weak link). I ran one the same time on alcohol and it was rugged (and forgiving compared to an iron block).

Scalloped around the outer cylinder surfaces from top of bore to bottom, or just the bottom half and the top half cast solid/flat ?

Got the perfect person for your 481T chevy ?

Doug at Alan Johnson used to work for Rodeck and is the greatest guy to talk with. 805-922-1202 He helped me a ton with my old Rodeck We figured 1800-1900 was safe but there are 3 types of the 481T, straight bolted mains, x-bolted, and splayed, (one of those designs I was told to stay away from and it wasn't the straight) also the RPM is where they die, I want to say no more than 8600 rpm if I recall or the caps start to move around and transfer metal to the block. If your caps aren't anodized get them anodized it helps. I also had another guy say to drill them and install a dowel pin to fix that. Ask Doug He will know.

    Best wishes,
Tell him Trevor Sherwood a.k.a Soldierboy Said hi please,
    Trev
