Samsel Earns Runner-up Finish in Atlanta

The Samsel Racing Team was in Commerce, Georgia last weekend for the Lucas Oil Division 2 event and walked away with a runner-up finish and a solid hold on the 4th place position in the Divisional points standings.

Driver, Robin Samsel, qualified in the #2 position for the event, with a 5.44, just missing the number one spot because of the parachutes shaking out early in the run. In the first round he laid down a great 5.35, which was low for the session earning him lane choice in the semi-final round. The next round, the A-fuel dragster covered the quarter-mile in 5.50 seconds at 260 mph to earn the win light. Unfortunately, they were unable to cross the stripe first in the final and settled for the runner-up finish.

“This car has really been coming around. We have made some good passes and had some great qualifying positions lately, but just haven’t been able to get anything done on race day. Today we got it done. Dad did well behind the wheel and we were able to go some rounds,” said crew chief Tony Samsel.

“The data we gathered this weekend might just give us what we need to finish out the 2009 season strong. Hopefully, we will be able to continue to run consistently and get this dragster in the winner’s circle.”
