In the last qualifying session in Topeka, Robert Kanenwisher unfortunately had one of the more spectacular fires which rates up there with Tate and Hannes and a few of John Force's and Al Hofmann's

As he was approaching the finish line the car suddenly became engulfed in flames, then it appeared to go out (due to the fire system on the car), but unfortunately it lit up again. He was forced to go off the end of the track as the chutes were melted where it literally burned to the ground.

Our condolences to the team for this major setback. But we are thankful that Robert was able to walk away from it.

Thank you Randy G. and fellow racers and crew members. Robert is good. The fire was a bad deal all the way around but at least Robert was o.k. The car can be replaced. Now we will take the rest of the year out to regroup and will be back next year. Thanks again to eveeryone.

That was a bad one and it was hard to watch this young man and his father load up what was left of the hard work they have put into there dream. Hang in there Robert and if there is anything we can do let us know.

Thanks everyone for your offers for parts and help to get our car back to the track. Most of you know that we lost #1&2 rods on that pass and that poped the blower, but the fire was caused by the blower straps being way longer than my fuel lines. People double check the lenght of your lines and make sure they are longer than your blower straps so you don't end up with a big mess like we have. If you ever encouter a fire like this i pray that the safety people know how long there hoses are so you don't have to get there before they get any retardant sprayed on your car and watch it burn to the ground. It will be a hard recovery, but we will try to be out next season. thanks again Don&Robert Kanenwisher
