retaping holes in intake for port injectors

i pulled my injector bodies out of intake to send to spud to be flowed..when i did this i noticed that a few of them the threads looked bad...i already have intake and blower bolted on engine..can i run a tap into intake and clean up holes before i attemp to reinstall injector bodies without taking blower and intake off engine or will the cleaning threads put to much aluminum shavings into engine and hurt it?

Put grease in the flutes of the tap and run it in a little and pull it out clean the flutes out add more grease and repeat. Hope this helps Craig

I know its not the answer you looking for but ...... pull the intake and do it right the first time! you dont wan't that aluminum a sealer in you engine.

got my fuel system back from spud;;ready to put my aluminum waterman nozzle bodies in intake;;;;what do you recomond to put on them to help protect theards from guiling up on me?

I would like to know myself, I've switched everything over to brass because I kept having problems with the aluminum ones.

 

Liquid pipe sealant. A very light smear on the nozzle body thread.

If you guys are stripping the threads, you are tightening up far too tight.

Try snugging them up by hand, then 1/4 to 3/4 turn or until theyre pointed correctly using a 7/16 open ended spanner.

Drill then tap a thread 1/8" npt & practice with a piece of ali in a vice, get to know the 'feel', & inspect whats happening.

As Don etc have stated: DON'T clean the threads up with unit attached to your engine. 1 or 2 hours in time to diassemble, can save months of work to re-couperate the lost money if you hurt your motor because of a small amount of ali.

 

remember when you use the waterman bodies DO NOT tighten the nozzels in the body tight just a lite snug or you will split the and your car will run lean and you will never find the problem because it is very hard to see the crack..Dave

 

picked up some "thread sealant w/teflon] it says on package;;;fast curing//lubes threads//seals&locks threaded fittings;;;;;;;;will this work? since i'm using this can i just srew nozzles in by hand until they are pointing to the intake port on head and let the sealant seal the threads air tight then?first blower engine and don't want to start off with a lean situation at get-go;;
