Back in June, NHRA issued a reminder about not removing any safety gear until the vehicle has exited the track. When Baca beat Kalitta in rd.1 of top fuel he was coming out of the car before the turn off. Do you think NHRA will or should fine him?

Fine 'em! They'd nail a sportsman racer right quick if any of us did it.

So, If a car is on fire and still on the track the driver should not take off his seat belt and get out????

Do they get fined double if they get out of the burning mess and then take off their burning safety gear???

Do they get fined triple if they then touch the car while it is on the track???

Chill pill...this is not about an emergency situation such as bailing out of a burning car. It is about how NHRA is going to enforce the rules they have in place for the protection of the driver and those around him. The top end of any dragstrip can be a dangerous place. Do you remember the late Gordon Mineo when pulling off at Columbus one year had the car light up again and ran into Eddie Hill's dragster? Things happen and I think celebrations should be done once the car is safely stopped.

    Russ,

Was it Gordon Mineo that had the car relight or was it Gordie Bonin. I dont remember clearly which it was but I do remeber the incident, talk about a scary deal!

I do believe it was Mineo, but tire shake could have made me dain bramaged.
By the way Frank, love your "thread wrecker" title - thought I had a shot at it.

Thanks Russ, I like it. Seems like lately when I put my .02 into a thread, the thread comes to a screeching halt so it seemed fitting :D We going to see you guys in Vegas for the LODRS or at Pomona for the Finals?

Probably not - we have a match race at Woodburn the weekend after this and possibly the division race at Medford the following weekend.
Would love to go to Vegas and Pomona, but we're looking to '07.

Frankie, Russ is correct about the Mineo incident. It was Flash Gordon's car that refired and ran into Eddie Thrill Hills dragster. unfortunatly for me I have not experianced enough tire shake to have brain damage...........This does not mean me brain is not damaged, just means tire shake is not the cause.
