    Gentlemen,

I am building a new rear axle and have reached the point where I need to decide what bolt center (PCD) to use. I've noticed (please correct me if I am wrong) that 5.5" seems to be the domain of top fuel cars and 16" wheels, with 5" or 4.75" or 4.5" used by everyone else. I have no intention of ever running nitromethane on a regular basis, and don't want to restrict myself in the future to less common parts, so I am leaning towards 5".

Am I on the right track?

    Thanks in advance,
    Jake.

No, most blown cars are now running the 5 X 5.5 bolt spacing. It is stronger and does not cost any more.

You'll have a better selection available with the 5 1/2" BC, I have 5" and had a hard time finding wheels for mine.

We changed over our 5X5 to 5X5.5 when we got 16" rims. A lot more selection with the 5.5 .
