What would be a good gear for 1/4 mile 1800 lb car around 1100 horse on mild/ safe tune. I have 4.30s in the car now.....8000 rpm 33 inch tall tire

Car has a glide with 1.88 gearset.

Vic that gear would work for you but if you increase your tire and not the hp you would need to drop down to 4.11 food for thought! Vinnie:)

I have a feeling I will run out of motor....

Vince, I was poking around on the Aikers Racing Calculator....

Some tell me I will need less gear.

That calculator don't lie so be ready? what gear is in it? 4.11 to start would work fine, alot of diggers in your class have them. Lets call the rubber kidd and find out for sure!

The problem with running a 4.10 gear is that it is hard to pull in high gear and make RPM. If you don't have RPM then you don't have boost. If no boost then no power and the performance falls off.

I've always had more success with the higher gear ratio's, a 4.56 works really well, I have even run up to a 4.71 gear with a TAD in the 90's. The higher gear keeps the motor free and allows you to work the horsepower, and doesn't pull the motor down in high gear (like Mike said). Stay with the 34.5 tire too, the 36 inch tire will just pull the motor down too.
