Meyer Earns Semifinal Finish in Memphis

Memphis, Tenn.: At the Division 4 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event March 23-25, Randy Meyer earned a semifinal finish in his Top Alcohol Dragster.

Meyer was straight off his impressive performance and national win in Gainesville, Fla. entering Memphis Motorsports Park where he had won one year ago. His team was strong again posting a 5.396 second pass at 231.84 mph to collect the number two qualifying position.

In eliminations, Meyer was set to race Division 4 winner Lindsey Wood. Meyer’s 5.359 at 252.14 mph was too much for Wood’s 5.444.

In the next round Meyer was paired with number three qualifier Morgan Lucas. Randy was off the line quicker and held a large lead. That lead became smaller as Meyer started dropping a cylinder that eventually led to Lucas passing for the win. Lucas’ 5.346 at over 270 mph defeated Meyer’s 5.475 at 248.93.

Randy Meyer has now earned 128 national points and is 10th in the standings. RMR is in Houston this weekend for the O’Reilly Spring Nationals. Qualifying begins Friday at 1:30 PM.
